President Abraham Lincoln


This is a fine head and shoulders portrait of Mr.Lincoln. The picture shows President Abraham Lincoln with a stern look of determination on his face. The portrait was taken in 1863 by Alexander Gardner. The three bloody years of Civil War have taken a toll on President Abraham Lincoln, you can see that he has aged dramatically since being elected.

Ingredients
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoons nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon cloves
1-1/2 tablespoons margarine or butter
1/2 cup Craisins
6 cups air-popped popcorn
Directions
Combine brown sugar ,corn syrup, spices and margarine or butter in microwave-safe bowl; cook on high heat for 2-1/2 minutes or until bubbly hot.
Add Craisins to popcorn; toss with hot sugar mixture until well coated. Cool mixture before serving or store in airtight container. Yields 6 cups.

Quik and Easy Meatloaf

Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup cracker crumbs
1/4 cup ketchup
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 egg,beaten
Directions
Mix all ingredients together gently . Form into a loaf and place in baking dish or loaf pan. Top with more ketchup if desired. Bake at350 degrees for about 1 hour. Serves 4 .

recipe of the week

MASHED POTATOES

Ingredients
2 cups water
2-1/2 pounds potatoes
6 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup heavy cream
Salt to taste

Directions
Boil water in 2-quart saucepan. Meanwhile , peel potatoes and cut into small cubes. Put potatoes into boiling water and simmer , uncovered , for about 20 minutes or until fork-tender. Drain water off. Using a mixer, whisk or potato masher, mash potatoes until free of lumps. Add butter, cream and salt and whip again until smooth.Makes 6 to 8 servings.
